I know I already posted my last CT post, but I forgot to submit this last one explaining why there are MP3’s embedded at the bottom of my page. I write my own music and make my own beats and instrumentals, and I don’t really like showing people. My boyfriend and my mother are always saying I should put it out there because whats the point of making it if no one but me is seeing it? So I decided last week to put up six of my favorite songs that I wrote, sang, and recorded and I hope you enjoy this personal peek.
This is the final post for this CT 101 class and I must say I am a little sad.
I really enjoyed the self learning I did in this class as far as pushing myself to learn a little photoshop and some other things such as GIF’s and Hyperlinks which I have never really used before in the past. I feel like after this class I want to start blogging more and learning more about Photoshop because I was really starting to understand how it works.
I am a journalism major and my professors were always trying to get me to do a blog post every week and run a page where I display my writing talents. I never wanted to do that because honestly I found that extremely boring and I wasn’t sure what was good to post and what wasn’t. Plus I didn’t really have any idea’s on what I wanted to post about and I thought it would be a bore just to have journalism stuff up there. I was really glad when I saw the DS106 assignments page with all the different assignments to try in order to stretch my skills and learn new things.
I enjoyed this class but I would have liked to do more one on one learning when it came to creating the mixed genre and mixed graphics lessons. I tried to keep up with the professor and everyone else as far as the learning each week, but I found that I tended to go on my own tangents and create my own stuff because everything was going way too fast.
Even when the professor tried to explain everything to me one on one he was just too into it and going to fast for me to understand anything. I would definitely take this class a second time now that I have learned these basic skills, because I might actually be able to keep up this time.
The assignments that I really enjoyed doing were the designing assignments and the visual and writing assignments from the DS106 page. I tried to get a lot done and I mean although the website looks okay, I really wanted to do a lot more. I will still be working on it over the winter break since I wont be here for winter semester, so there is definitely more to come.
I will keep this site going for as long as I can because I really put a lot of time and work into this page and I feel like I need to keep it going for as long as I can.
For this assignment, we had to take a close up photo of our own eyes and replace the pupil with something that either is special to you or something you enjoy doing. I really enjoy music so I used a piece of a microphone to replace my pupil to show my love of singing. I think it came out pretty well, and I even tried to make it funny by adding a caption.
This was my first time SUCCESSFULLY transplanting myself into another photo without the background.I know its really hard to see me but the illusion was supposed to be me driving the RTV trough the forrest on this bridge I found in the forrest. I keep trying to challenge myself on photoshop since I know that is my personal weakness. I seem to be getting a better understanding of it now that I keep working on it every time. My main goal with trying all of these DS106 assignments is to have my website as full looking as possible while show-casing the different skills I am learning in this class.
This is my manipulated picture of Rihanna. I tried my best I just couldn’t get the background color to change.
So today is halloween, my FAVORITE holiday ever! I love to dress up for halloween and I always have, but other people dont share the same joy for it as I do. I don’t mind that other people have opinions about it, I just dont like being judged because I like to dress up. Some people say its childish or I’m too old to dress for halloween but I disagree. Halloween is for anyone who likes to wear costume, period.
Halloween to me is a free form of expression that you dress up for. You can be anyone or anything you want to be, but it all comes from your imagination which in a way forces you to be a kid again.
This short GIF made me laugh because I love when people do costumes like these where they are attached to someone else. But they are the entire body of the costume.
At this point in the class, I feel like I still need A LOT of help with photoshop. I keep trying to stay up with what is being taught to us but, it goes way too fast and I cant. I think what I might have to end up doing is going onto Youtube.com to watch how to work the basics of photoshop and other programs. I don’t really grasp the concept of how to make an animation in photoshop, but I do get how its done using IMGUR and Youtube. I feel like the more I work on these skills that I should be gaining, I will get a lot better to the point I can post Youtube tutorials on my website….eventually.

ELIJAH SAFI AKA YOUNG NASARO
RAP ARTIST YOUNG NASARO IS SLOWLY BECOMING A SENSATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA. HE HAS BEEN RAPPING FOR THREE YEARS NOW AND HAS ALREADY MADE TWO MIXTAPES. HE HAS PERFORMED AT MCU PARK IN CONEY-ISLAND WITH HOT 97, AND HE HAS DONE RAP BATTLES IN PERSON AS WELL AS ON YOUTUBE.
ELIJAH SAFI AKA YOUNG NASAR- ONLY 19, HAS MANAGED TO BECOME ONE OF MANY RECOGNIZED MUSICIANS BY PROMOTING HIMSELF ON YOUTUBE, INSTAGRAM AND FACEBOOK. HE STARTED OUT AT THE AGE OF 17, BARELY GRADUATING FROM EDWARD R MURROW HIGH-SCHOOL IN BROOKLYN BEFORE HE DECIDED THAT HE WANTED TO GIVE RAPPING A SHOT.
“I USED TO RAP WITH KIDS IN HIGH-SCHOOL. I WAS LIKE HEY WHY DON’T I MAKE THIS A PROFESSION? I’M GOOD AT IT, I LOVE MAKING MUSIC , I LOVE EXPRESSING MYSELF. EXPRESSING MY EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS SOMETIMES, SO WHY DON’T I JUST MAKE THIS A PROFESSION?”
STARTING OUT, HE SAYS HE DIDN’T THINK THAT HE WOULD GET AS FAR AS HE DID. HIS FATHER PLAYS A BIG ROLE IN HIS GROWING SUCCESS, BEING THE MAIN PARENT TO FUND HIM AS WELL AS HELPING HIM GET HIS FOOT IN THE DOOR. YOUNG NASARO’S FATHER KNOWS A LOT OF PEOPLE AND PROVIDES A SAFETY NET. THE FIRST BIG STEP FOR HIM BESIDES LEARNING TO CRAFT HIS NEW FOUND HOBBY WAS FIGURING OUT A NAME THAT HE COULD USE THAT HAD MEANING.
“PEOPLE ASKED ME WHAT MY STAGE NAME WAS GOING TO BE, ITS STILL A SECRET PEOPLE DON’T REALLY KNOW WHAT IT MEANS YET. THE WHOLE— EVERY LETTER STANDS FOR SOMETHING.I’LL SAY ONE MEANING, BUT THERES TWO MEANINGS TO IT. NEGRO ALWAYS SPITTIN’ AFTER REALITY’S OVER.”
WITH HIS NAME DOWN PAT, HIS SAFETY NET IN PLACE AND HIS MOTIVE INTACT YOUNG NASARO KNEW HE NEEDED MUSIC WITH A MESSAGE. HE BELIEVES THAT PEOPLE TEND TO MAKE MUSIC THAT IS TRENDING WITH THE CHANGING TIMES, BUT HE KNEW THAT HE WANTED TO MAKE MUSIC LIKE HIS IDOL RAP ARTIST NAS. NAS MAKES MUSIC WITH MESSAGES OF CHANGE AND CONFIDENCE. YOUNG NASARO WANTED TO HAVE THAT SAME EFFECT ON HIS LISTENERS.
“MY GREATEST INSPIRATION AS A MUSICIAN IS NAS. NAS IS A STORY TELLER. SO THE WAY THAT NAS DID HIS MUSIC NAS WOULD TALK ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCES THROUGH HIS POINT OF VIEW.”
YOUNG NASARO IS ONE OF MANY SELF TAUGHT MUSICIANS. HE LEARNED HOW TO RAP, MIX AND MASTER HIS OWN SOUNDS TO GET PROFESSIONAL QUALITY AND PRODUCED TWO MIX-TAPES ALL ON HIS OWN JUST FROM WATCHING YOUTUBE VIDEOS. EVEN AFTER HAVING MADE TWO MIX-TAPES, ONE HE RELEASED IN DECEMBER 2016 AND ONE HE RELEASED JULY 2017, HE CONTINUES TO PUSH HIMSELF TO GO FURTHER. ELIJAH NOW HAS HIS OWN SWEATERS, T-SHIRTS, HATS AND SOON WILL HAVE BACK PACKS REPRESENTING HIS LABEL, YOUNG GENRE – PRONOUNCED GENRE.
“IT IS TIME CONSUMING TO LEARN, BUT WHEN YOU LEARN IT IS WORTH IT. YOU GOTTA INVEST IN YOURSELF FIRST.”
CURRENTLY AT 12,000 LIKES ON FACEBOOK AND MORE THAN 5,000 LIKES ON INSTAGRAM HE IS TRENDING ON SOCIAL MEDIA AT A PACE HE NEVER IMAGINED. HE STARTED OUT AS THE UNLIKED AND UNPOPULAR KID IN HIGH SCHOOL THAT PEOPLE ALWAYS BELIEVED WOULD NEVER BE ANYTHING. HE TRIES TO PUSH PAST THAT BY MAKING MUSIC THAT PASSES ON KNOWLEDGE AND DISCOURAGES PEOPLE TALKING DOWN TO OTHER PEOPLE.
“HAVE CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF, THATS THE MAIN THING OFF BAT…BECAUSE THE HARDEST THING FOR ME, WAS TO FIND MYSELF. LITERALLY ALL MY LIFE WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL, WHEN YOUR THAT KID THAT DOESN’T DRESS FRESH, YOU DON’T WANT TO FOLLOW TRENDS, YOU WANNA BE DIFFERENT YOU WANT TO BE YOURSELF AND ALL THE OTHER STUFF, HAVE CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF. IF YOU LET PEOPLE GET TO YOU, ITS NOT GOING TO GET YOU FURTHER. INSTEAD ITS GOING TO DISCOURAGE YOU MORE AND MORE YOUR GONNA THINK THAT YOUR NOT GOOD ENOUGH, DON’T LET PEOPLE LOWER YOUR SELF ESTEEM.”
YOUNG NASARO IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON A THIRD MIX-TAPE, NO TITLE NOR THEME HAS BEEN RELEASED AS OF YET.
